SUCCESS AT THE TOP
Submitted by Larry B. Wickham, Wellness Committee
For the past twelve weeks over 350 people have been involved with the AClimb the Grand Teton@ program. This represents thirty-five teams with ten members per team. Along the way a few individuals have had to drop out because of illness, injury, surgery and so forth. When the concept first started, we were hoping to have ten teams and let things grow from there. However, as the deadline to submit team rosters arrived, we were pleasantly surprised to find we more than tripled the original goal.
Here are a few comments people have made about the program: AWhen I first started out I did not think I would be able to stick to it. As time went by, exercising became a part of my daily routine.@ AI was extremely surprised to see that I had lost weight and it wasn=t all that hard.@ ABeing part of a team trying to reach a common goal has been very rewarding. I developed new friendships that I otherwise may not have made.@ AI have been lifting weights and running and now feel stronger, more flexible, and my endurance is greater.@ AThank you very much for this program. It has boosted my confidence and self esteem and I look forward to the next program you will be offering.@
During the summer months we will not have a team activity, but will have one in the fall. Now is a good time to think about forming your team or developing a new ones in case you were not on one this semester. In the meantime, we have sent out a blue sheet in the last bulletin pertaining to the AIncentive Program. With this, you will be able to set various goals and work towards them. If you did not receive a copy of this, please contact us at ext. 1040 and one will be sent.
We want to draw attention to the Wellness Committee Home Page. It can be found on the Internet at: www.byui.edu/ricks/wellness. We extend a big Athank you@ to Kent Hughes who was a key person in developing this project.
