ICE: Integrated Communication Experience
About ICE
ICE integrates Communication 250, 350, and 450 and is designed to give students a cluster or module in communication.
- Prerequisite: Comm 150/Comm 175
- Mandatory ICE Retreat: Sept 15-17, 2011
- Courses offered: Tuesday and Thursday 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.
- Application required before enrollment
COMM 250 Organizational Practices: Observe and identify key components of organizational
reality. Understand basic theories and application of organizational practices. Assess and suggest ways to modify organizational culture and climate. Understand basic principles and techniques of leadership and when to use them.
COMM 350 Group Dynamics: Analysis of theory and practice of human communication in a small group setting, focusing on leadership, participation and evaluation, with emphasis in group norms, roles, cohesion and conflict.
COMM 450 Conflict Management: Theory and hands-on experience in managing conflict and
using principled negotiation in a variety of personal and professional contexts. Topics include
conflict management strategies, negotiation, and relevant strategies for effective leadership in the workplace, in interpersonal relationships, and with families.
