Mission Statement

The English Transitional Center (ETC)  is designed to help non-native speakers of English adjust to their role as matriculated college students at BYU-Idaho.  The goal is to transit students from ESL and other intensive English programs to the real world of an American University.

The ETC helps students continue to improve and practice their language skills while they are concurrently enrolled in other college courses.

The English Transitional Center's mission is to do the following:

  1. Maintain an open, friendly, and non-threatening learning environment where students can practice and improve their language skills.
  2. Increase confidence and proficiency in oral and written communication through tutoring, modules, and classes.
  3. Support and help students as they adjust academically and culturally to American College life.
