Technology Competency Assessment (TCA)
As part of the Teacher Education program, you must possess certain basic technology skills. Follow these simple steps to complete your Technology Competency Assessments.Coming soon! Watch an introduction video for the TCA here.
Step 1: Prepare for the Assessment
Clicking on the links below will provide you with a list of skills that you are required to know for each area, as well as resources to help you learn any skills that you may not have.Step 2: Complete each Assessment
At the EdTech Lab (MCK 364) you will be given a task to test your ability in each of the areas. Each task must be completed in under 30 minutes, but you do not have to complete all tasks at once (you may wish to complete one task per day, for example). As you successfully complete each task, your TCA record will be stamped and initialed by a Lab Assistant. To take a TCA test, go to MCK 364 during regular lab hours and tell the lab assistant (also known as a TCA proctor) that you are ready to take the test.
If you go to the EdTech lab to take a test and there is a class being taught there, you may take the TCA test in the STC (Student Technology Center, MCK 360) located next to the EdTech Lab.
