Hart Clothing Changes
Q: Do I have to check out clothing in the locker room?
A: No. You may purchase your own approved clothing in the University Store.
Q: What is the cost to check out clothing in the locker room?
A: Students - $15 per semester. Employees - $20 per semester or $50 per year.
Q: Can I wear the new approved clothing throughout campus?
A: No. The approved clothing is only for the Hart Building. Students and employees must obey the dress code by not wearing shorts while walking through campus. We have been instructed to wear sweat pants or warm-ups while walking to the Hart Building or bring your clothes and use the locker rooms to change when you arrive.
Q: Will there be more options for styles of clothing?
A: Yes. The University Store has intorduced an expanded line of approved clothing which includes moisture management shirts and shorts, hoodies and sweat pants.
Q: Will the new style of clothing be offered for checkout in the locker rooms?
A: No. The basic cotton t-shirt and dazzle shorts will be the only option in the locker rooms for checkout.
Q: Can I use the clothing I already purchased from the University Store?
A: Yes. As long as the clothing purchased from the University Store is approved.
Q: What is the reason for charging for clothing issued in the locker rooms?
A: The University incurs a very large expense to launder clothing and towels in the locker rooms. The fees are to help reduce these costs.
Q: If I bring my own approved clothing, what is the cost to check out a locker?
A: There is no cost to check out a locker for daily use. Lockers may be checked out for ESS classes for $5 per semester. Employees may also check out a locker for $5 per semester.
Q: If I am in an ESS class, am I required to pay the fee to check out clothes in the locker room?
A: If you are in an ESS class you may wear your own approved clothing and check out a locker during class time or check out your clothing for the $15 fee.
Q: If I am playing Recreation Sports in the Hart Building, do I have to wear approved clothing?
A: Yes.
Q: If I don't want to wear shorts, what is the policy on pants?
A: You may wear sweats, warm-ups, exercize pants, etc. that are loose-fitting with no suggestive wording. Also, to protect the upholstery on the exercise equipment, pants may not have buttons or snaps.
Q: Is there a fee to check out swim suits?
A: Yes. Swim suits are included in the $15 fee.
Q: Can I purchase my own approved swim suit?
A: Yes. The University Store carries approved swim suits for men and women.
