BYU-Idaho Web Site ADA Compliance Statement
The Brigham Young University - Idaho Web Site Home Page and all text navigation pages are in full compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Rehabilitation Act Amendments of 1998, Section 508. All colleges, departments, faculty, and administrative offices are receiving instruction in web development procedures to bring their web sites into compliance.
Site Accessibility Features on Compliant Pages
- Users of audio based screen readers are immediately greeted on the Home Page with the message "Click here to go to the text only home page". Upon selecting that link, they are taken to the text version of the Home Page. The Disabilities Services Center is the first link followed by all other links on the default Home Page.
- Text version primary navigation pages correspond to all JavaScript based drop down menus.
- The Site Index is entirely text based.
- Lists are alphabetized so users with audio screen readers can be aware of the location and order of page links.
- All images have a corresponding text description.
- Color coding is used with corresponding text description.
- Flashing images are avoided.
- Video and audio clips are accompanied by a text transcript of the audio.
