SharePoint Jump Start
Interface:
There are five basic sections to the SharePoint interface:
1. Site Actions- The "Start" button of SharePoint (upper-right)
2. Navigation Bar- How to get around (upper-left)
3. Editing Toolbar- Page editing options (below Nav Bar when deployed)
4. Search- Search Site (top-right)
5. Content Panel- (left column)
How to:
Log into SharePoint
To log into SharePoint you need to use your domain(BYUI or STUDENTS) followed by a backslash and your net ID.

Make SharePoint login automatically
To make Internet Explorer trust SharePoint do the following:
1. Click "Tools" on the menu bar
2. Click "Internet Options"
3. Click the "Security" tab then "Local Intranet" then "Sites"
4. Click "Advanced" then type https://content.byui.edu
5. Click "Add", "Close", "Ok", "Ok"
Show Editing Tool bar
1. Click "Site Actions" Button
2. Show Page Editing Tool bar
Images: Uploading, etc...
1. Click: View All Content (top of Content Panel)
2. Then Click: Images- Upload- Browse- (Select file)- Open- Ok
3. Once the image has uploaded right click the name of the image and copy link location (to place in article, see below).
Some pictures (ie- Rollup images) must be shrunken down to exact size before loading into SharePoint (see image tutorial ). Others can be defined when the image is placed.
New Article
1. Click "Site Actions" Button
2. Create new page
3. Enter title
3. Choose template
5. Click- "Create"
4. Paste image link from above in image location
5. Type text
6. Publish
Change Article Properties
1. Navigate to article
2. Show Page Editing Toolbar (if not already)
3. Page- Page Settings
4. Make changes
5. Click- Ok
Vista and Sharepoint
To get Vista and Sharepoint to talk, do the following:
1. Open your browser
2. Click "Tools" - "Internet Options"
3. Click "Connections" - "LAN settings"
4. Click "Use Proxy Server"
5. Type " * " in the address field
6. Click "Advanced"
7. In the exceptions field type " * "
8. Click "Ok" - "Ok" - "Ok"
9. Log into Sharepoint
