TRANSPORTAION
I don't have any way of getting out to the livestock center; can I still take a horse class?
Yes, there are shuttles that provide transportation from campus to the Livestock Center.
Where do the shuttles meet?
The vans will leave and return to the west side of the Hart building. (where the Salt Lake Express picks up)
What time do the shuttles leave and return?
The shuttles will leave and return when your class is scheduled to begin and end. So for example your class is scheduled from 3:15-5:15pm, the van will leave the Hart at 3:15pm and be back there at 5:15pm.
Who will drive the shuttle?
Someone from your class will need to get a van permit before the second day of class. A driver will be provided for the first day of class.
How do I get my van driving permit?
You will go to the Students tab, click on Services and Resources, and then click on Vehicle Driving Permit. Read through and follow the link to request an I-Learn tab. You will then listen to three videos and take three little quizzes. After completing and passing those quizzes you will call Fleet Services and make an appointment to take your driving test. Upon completion you will receive your van driving permit.
PREREQUISITES FOR CLASSES
I have had a lot of past riding history; do I have to take a Basic Horsemanship class in order to take any of the modules?
It is highly recommended that you do take either Basic I or Basic II before taking any of the modules, this is even if you have ridden a lot it gives you a background on how we do things here, and what is expected. Both of the Basic Horsemanship classes are very informative and teach a lot more than just riding.
Can I retake any of the classes?
Yes, you can take any of the classes as many times as you want.
