Life Skills Workshops - Committee Member Application
PLEASE READ
Life Skills is a new area of the Activities Program that offers student-led workshops on a broad-range of topics
that help students develop the competencies and skills necessary to succeed in life. Students learn much through
their academic classes and involvement in university life; however, there are other aspects of one’s life that
require basic knowledge and skill that may not be part of one’s formal education or experience at college. Life Skills
workshops offer students a formal, yet no-fee and non-credit way of expanding their knowledge and capacities that
will help them manage life successfully.
A committee member for Life Skills may or may not facilitate an actual workshop. Committee members may help with
the selection and development of a workshop topic and assist other facilitators in preparing for and delivering a
workshop. Committee members are generalists who help in any way they can to see Life Skills workshops succeed.
Committee members are expected to attend weekly meetings with their coordinators and should expect to put in 3-5 hours of
volunteer work per week. If you are interested in becoming a committee member for Life Skills workshops, please fill out
