Assessments
The Assessments application is used for distributing to students through I-Learn. After the students take the assessments, the grade will be automatically entered into Grade Center.
Assignments
The Assignments application allows students to complete and submit assignments online using I-Learn. The Assignments application promotes easy grading and reduces the trouble that often occurs with paper management.
Basic Tools
In I-Learn there are a series of tools available to help make simple tasks easier such as contacting students, posting announcements, and posting staff information on their course.
Blogs
Blogs are often used in I-Learn as online journals, either personal, only the student and instructor can see the posts, or public, all the students can see the posts. Blogs are generally text based but some will include images, audio, video and other file types.
Content Areas
Content Areas can be best described as organizational tabs configured for better information management. Using Content Areas increases the organization of the class, allowing students to easily navigate within the I-Learn course.
Content System
The Content System provides near limitless storage space, file protection, the ability to delegate work, and the ability to move information from one course/user to another.
Course Copy
I-Learn provides several ways to copy information within a course and between courses. The copy function gives the ability to duplicate courses and share information between faculty.
Course Management
Courses must be created each semester, course names often need to be edited, and the old courses need to be saved through the archiving process. A good course set up will enable a positive learning environment.
Discussion Board
A Discussion Board is a tool that allows members of a class to communicate with each other. Instructors create forums with specific topics of discussion. They are kept in a central location and can be accessible to all members of a class or just a specific group.
Grade Center
The Grade Center is an I-Learn grading tool. Grades are input either automatically from assignments or tests within I-Learn or manually input from projects and tests outside of I-Learn.
Groups
The Groups application allows students to collaborate with each other for various projects in I-Learn. Blogs, wikis, and/ or discussion boards can be configured to allow a single group access.
Podcast
A podcast is a video or audio file posted to a website that others can watch or listen to. They are different from regular audio/video files because you are able to “subscribe” to them. If subscribed, new posts are automatically downloaded.
Self & Peer Assessment
Self and Peer Assessments allow students to first turn in an assignment and then have it evaluated by fellow classmates. This is a great tool that allows students to learn from others work.
Wiki
A wiki is a website with pages that allow users to edit content collectively. Students can create additonal pages within the wiki that can be modified by themselves and other group members.
