Outcomes

  1. Students will analyze the ways in which Pakistan has been shaped by factors such as history, geography, economics, religion, natural resources, and language.
  2. Students will analyze current challenges facing this volatile nation that has ancient roots.
  3. Students will be able to use these same analytical skills to better understand any nation of the world from the perspective of that nation, as well as from the perspective of the United States.
  4. Students will appreciate how the nations of the world are connected, develop an interest in international affairs, and see why such matters are important from a gospel perspective.
  5. Students will be able to identify the strengths and weaknesses in other cultures and nations.

 

Description

Few countries in the world are more strategically critical yet less understood than Pakistan. This young country in an ancient land lies at the crossroads of history, religion, language, and culture. On the front-line in the war against terror, this nuclear power is in the midst of political turmoil whose outcome will have great implications for the rest of the world.

Prepare

  • Each Lesson requires Preparation on your part to read, study, dig deeper, and explore the Lesson material each week.
  • Over the course of the semester you will also prepare a case and a topic presentation for our class.
  • Over the course of the semester you will also prepare a case and a topic presentation for our class.

    • We will have many opportunities to teach one another this semester.  Each week we will exchange ideas, pose questions, and tackle difficult issues related to Pakistan.  Much of this will take place on our Discussion Board.
  • Teach One Another
  • Each student will also have the opportunity to teach the rest of the class through cases and topic presentations.  These are spread out over the entire semester.

Ponder/Prove

  • Pondering what we've learned each week will be, in part, recorded on your Reflection Worksheet each week.
  • The reflection essays, mid-term exam, final exam, and research paper will also give you the opportunity to ponder and prove what you've learned this semester.
