Want the flexibility to get around town but don’t want to bring a vehicle to campus? Now you can. BYU-Idaho is in cooperation with WeCar, a low-cost car-sharing program allowing students to rent a vehicle for as little as an hour, or as long as a day. It’s the flexibility you want without the hassle.
Costs:
• Annual membership fee: $35 (includes a $35 rental credit)
• Car rental: Choose the best pricing option for you — hourly rate (mileage included), hourly rate plus a per-mile fee, or a daily rate
– Intermediate Sedan (Nissan Cube): 1) $7.50/hour (includes 200 miles), 2) $3.75/hour plus $.25 per mile, 3) $55/day
– Midsize Sedan (Jeep Compass): 1) $8/hour (includes 200 miles), 2) $4.50/hour plus $.25 per mile, 3) $58/day
• Gas: included in rental cost
• Insurance: included in rental cost
Program Details:
• Rental cars are located in the MC Southeast Lot and the Stadium Southwest Lot (and other locations in the community)
• Students age 18 and older are eligible (with valid driver’s license)
How it Works:
- Student applies for membership on the WeCar website
- Student receives membership card
- Student reserves a vehicle on the WeCar website
- Student locates reserved vehicle in marked parking stall and swipes membership card in front window to begin reservation and enter vehicle
- Student returns vehicle to marked parking stall, swipes membership card to complete transaction, and receives an invoice via email
