Volunteering in Student Honor

The Student Honor Office provides valuable opportunities for studenst to serve on one of the following councils.

Steady Upward

The Purpose of Steady Upward is to help those at BYU – Idaho to build their testimony and to make their weaknesses into strength. The duty of the teachers and directors in these classes are to be spiritually in tune to help those in the class to feel the spirit and to see the importance of Student Honor.

Return with Honor Council

The purpose of the Return with Honor Council is to prayerfully evaluate the sincerity and willingness of re-applicants, to live the honor code prior to readmission to BYU – Idaho. Duties of volunteers include attending weekly meetings to discuss and review re-applicants, strict honor code observance, and personal worthiness to assist in the spiritual nature of the position. Among the benefits of serving on the honor council is gaining a new understanding, perspective, and appreciation of the honor code and those who run the student honor program. Students also gain great satisfaction in seeing students have a change of heart in becoming willing to live the honor code.

Outreach Council

The Outreach council’s main purpose is to give a more positive connotation to the Honor Code. Through the use of various media such as videos, posters, literature, etc. the council establishes plans and spends a few hours a week bringing their ideas to light. This council promotes a creative mind, teamwork and satisfaction. The main vision of the council is to amplify the ease of obedience by students at the University through a change in attitude.
