Dress and Grooming Standards
At BYU–Idaho and in the Church, there is a great focus on the small and simple things. One of the small and simple things we have the privilege of participating in at BYU–Idaho is the Dress & Grooming Standards. We have a charge to dress modestly and be groomed appropriately every day. Through your obedience, you will help create an environment in which the Holy Ghost can minister to and lift not only you, but also everyone around you.
Remember that shorts, capris, flip-flops, tight or revealing clothing, other inappropriate attire/styles, and unshaven faces for men, are not permitted on campus. In addition, Hart issue shorts may not be worn on campus except in the Hart Building or other approved recreational facilities. Students are required to adhere to normal Dress & Grooming standards when coming to and from these facilities.
We encourage each of you to strengthen your commitment to the BYU–Idaho Honor Code by maintaining appropriate behavior, dress, and grooming standards while on campus.

“…by small and simple things are great things brought to pass.” –Alma 37:7
President Kim B. Clark has said, “It is true that flip-flops and an unshaven face are not big things. But it is just like the stories of pride and greed in the Book of Mormon; failure to do the small things can, in a short period of time, lead to failure on the big things. Following the rules about the small things establishes a great spirit of obedience on the campus.”
