Titles and Terms Specific to BYU-Idaho
This listing is alphabetical with italics added for emphasis only. Capitalization indicates when the term is normally used as a common or proper noun.

Acceptable on second reference for Brigham Young University–Idaho. It is not necessary to capitalize university when used as a common noun or as a general term referring to BYU–Idaho in most written communication. However, capitalize University in formal or legal writing where the short form is intended to invoke the full authority of the school.
Located on the first floor of the Manwaring Center. Outlet for textbooks, university clothing and memorabilia, classroom supplies, LDS artwork and books, etc. On second reference, Bookstore may be used. If audience is off-campus, clarify the university’s association by using BYU–Idaho Bookstore. See Bookstore, bookstore.
Located in 248 Manwaring Center. Offers in-house and take-out catering for events. Managed by Food Services.
Office located in 226 Kimball with creative services in the Radio and Graphic Services Building. Responsible for appropriate marketing, branding, and communicating on behalf of the university. Messages are developed through radio, news media, and other creative services.
This council was developed in Fall 2006 by restructuring the previous President's Council and Strategic Planning Council. It coordinates university initiatives and strategy issues. See www.byui.edu/information.
A university resource that deals with campus safety, facilities financial management, facilities planning and construction, facilities management operation, purchasing and travel, and university services. University services deals with the bookstore, food services, mail services, one-card system, and stores and receiving.
Located in 150 Kimball. Acceptable when the audience is familiar with the organizational alignment. Otherwise the first reference should be BYU–Idaho Division of the Rexburg Police Department.
University Press
Located in the Auxiliary Services Building. Provides imaging services (copying, offset printing, laser printing, scanning, faxing, etc.) for production of classroom materials for faculty, students, university publications, etc. Services are open to the general public.
University Relations Office
Located in 226 Kimball. Deals with all of the main university communication and events; helps communicate information about university programs and sevices to students, employees, alumni and the general public; and coordinates special events, hosting, and perfomance tours.
Council under the vice president of University Resources that coordinates all matters relating to support services and facilities management. Members include the budget officer, director of Financial Services, the internal auditor, director of Personnel Services, the director of philanthropies, the director of University Operations, and the director of University Relations.
Students who desire to tailor their own program can graduate with the bachelor of science in university studies or the bachelor of arts in university studies. The university studies degrees require the completion of general education and university requirements. Please refer to the current catalog for details. Located adjacent to the Campus Outdoor Learning Center and Arboretum on Seventh South. Acceptable on second reference for University Village, Student Family Housing. See Housing Office.
