Chicago Urban Studies Summer Jam for Girls

Summer Jam for Girls is a three-week experience working with Inner City youth. Participants are either members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints or they are in some way connected with the Church. The age group of these youth is from 10 to 15.  The BYU–Idaho participants in the program will be involved in one-on-one experiences with the youth as well as leading them in small group structured experiences.

 

 

Cost

The tour cost is $500, which pays for:

  • Travel fees (Plane ride to Chicago)
  • Food expenses each day (breakfast and lunch, additional $100 will be needed for dinners)
  • Lodging
  • Transportation in Chicago

 

The fee does not include:

  • Tuition for classes
  • Books for courses taken (estimated $30 - $50)
  • Personal expenses (i.e. snacks or souvenirs)
  • Personal insurance
  • Money needed for Dinners (estimated $100)

 

 

Dates

The tour is in the month of August

 

Group Meetings

Meetings will be held during the Winter or Spring Term. Those on the Summer/Fall track will attend meetings during the Spring, at times to be announced.

 

 

Courses

  • Sociology 460 - Community Studies (3 credits) or 1 communications class
