| DESCRIPTION: | This course is designed to increase students' awareness of the opportunities for those with a degree in Family and Consumer Sciences. Much of this course is directed at the graduating senior, with practical information about identifying alternative career paths, job-seeking ideas, steps in resume writing, and job descriptions of specific careers. | ||
| TOPICS: | Professional development for careers; Lifelong plan of education and professional development; Internships and other preprofessional employment; Developing job seeking strategies; Professional resume and portfolio; Finding desirable employers; Interviewing and employment offers; Career Development; Transitions; Managing a successful career; Professional associations, organizations and memberships; Future directions for Family and Consumer Science professions | ||
| OBJECTIVES: | 1. Recognize the importance of, and make a committment to, continued professional development through actions and associations. 2. Characterize the attitudes, attributes, and appearance of a university graduate seeking a professional position. 3. Describe specific, individual plans for professional development, life balance, and goal achievement. |
