CATALOG DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to develop the student's ability to develop freestyle and structured designs from various materials for competitive designing and presentation. Flower judging, product familiarity and evaluation, advanced floral structures and skills will be emphasized.
DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to develop the student's ability to develop freestyle and structured designs from various materials for competitive designing and presentation. Flower judging, product familiarity and evaluation, advanced floral structures and skills will be emphasized.
TOPICS: Floral judging, competition, oral presentation and commentating; design planning; material sourcing.
OBJECTIVES: Prepare students to quickly assess the materials needed for a design and to evaluate the quality of those materials; communicating the meaning and purpose of designs to the public.
REQUIREMENTS: Floral tools, some materials, willingness to afford travel to competitions.
PREREQUISITES: Hort 335, 336, 338, 337, 435, FDM major or consent of instructor.
