| OBJECTIVES: |
- Explore critical theories that inform the ways experienced readers respond to literature.
- Explicate, analyze, and evaluate works of literature using various critical approaches and integrating relevant secondary sources.
- Evaluate traditional, technical, and electronic research sources for their accuracy, comprehensiveness, and usefulness.
- Accurately summarize source information and document it according to MLA guidelines.
- Apply elements of effective writing, such as adapting to audience and purpose; focusing, organizing, and developing ideas; achieving coherence; and editing.

30 pages of edited and documented prose. |

Completion of English 111 or 111C, English 251, and at least 22 credit hours or sophomore standing. |
