CATALOG DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to introduce the student to the business aspect of interior design. Information will be presented regarding procedural forms and professional practices for the interior designer, i.e.,ethics, contracts, fee bases, purchase orders, letters of agreement, business formations, and terminology relating to the interior design business practice. Resume writing,interviewing and job seeking skills for the job market will also be covered.

OBJECTIVES: At the conclusion of this course, the student will:
1. Develop a professional, creative resume.
2. Apply professional interview techniques in actual interviews.
3. Identify business contracts, forms, and procedures for the interior design business.
4. Identify accounting procedures for the interior design business.
5. Define and use terminology specific to the interior design business orally and in examination.
6. Identify various interior design business formations and their requirements in examination.
7. Identify various methods of business promotion and advertisement for the interior design business.
8. Define ethical business practice in interior design.
9. Define methods of compensation for various interior design services.
REQUIREMENTS: 1. Each student will design and develop a creative resume in preparation for the job search.
2. Each student will read RHINOCEROS SUCCESS and be prepared to discuss his/her relationship to the basic premise.
3. Each student will be required to take five exams to evaluate the understanding and comprehension of material presented.
4. Each student will arrange two interviews and prepare a written report of each according to information presented in class.
5. Each student will complete homework assignments as given.
6. Each student should be prepared for quizzes at the beginning of each lecture.
