CATALOG DESCRIPTION: Rigorous treatment of analysis in the context of metric spaces. Applications involving such tools as approximation, Fourier analysis and multivariate optimization. (Winter odd years)
DESCRIPTION:
TOPICS: Rigorous treatment of series and the calculus of several variables. Partial derivatives, multiple integration, vector analysis, basic metric properties of Euclidean Space and the Implicit and Inverse Function Theorems.
OBJECTIVES: Students will build on the foundation established in Math 461.
REQUIREMENTS: Attendance is required.
Homework will be required; tests will be administered.
PREREQUISITES: Math 341 and Math 461
