CATALOG DESCRIPTION: A course designed to prepare music majors to teach the basics of string playing to elementary and secondary beginning through intermediate students. Focus will be on violin, viola, cello and bass.
DESCRIPTION: A course designed to prepare music majors to teach the basics of string playing to elementary and secondary beginning through intermediate students. Focus will be on violin, viola, cello and bass.
TOPICS: Current and historical approaches to string playing; a study of group and solo method books; peer tutoring and discovery teaching techniques; classroom management.
OBJECTIVES: Students will demonstrate basic playing skills as well as explain the process of its production.
REQUIREMENTS: Primarily in-class study with minimal outside assignments.
