CATALOG DESCRIPTION: Introduction to the methods, philosophy and career opportunities in physics. Includes lab exercises designed to give experience with measurements.
DESCRIPTION: Introduces students to the field of physics, including its methods, philosophies and career opportunities. It also introduces the Physics major at this institution and the possible career paths it could lead to.
TOPICS: Trigonometry, the Scientific method, Philosophy of Science, Career opportunities.
OBJECTIVES: Successful completion of the course allows students to understand the breadth of the subject, its fundamental methods and philosophies. Students will outline their program of study, hear and report on guest speakers and perform exerices designed to thelp them understand the fundamental philosophies of physics.
