CATALOG DESCRIPTION: This course applies the conceptual framework and the relationship of inquiry, including quantitative and qualitative processes, with the advancement and structuring of nursing knowledge. It provides a forum for discussion of the development, application and evaluation of various types of nursing research.

It provides a forum for discussion of the development, application and evaluation of various types of nursing research.
TOPICS:
OBJECTIVES: Identify the relationship of inquiry to the advancement of nursing knowledge.

By the completion of the course, the student should be able to:

1. Explore images of nursing over time with regard to nursing research.

2. Demonstrate an integrated understanding of the application of knowledge of nursing research.

3. Evaluate qualitative and quantitative nursing research studies in relation to specific nursing situations.

4. Relate findings of nursing research to nursing practice situations.

5. Identify problems and appropriate methods for systematic inquiry within specific nursing situations.

6. Express importance of valuing the contribution of nursing research in conceptualization of specific nursing situations.
