| CATALOG DESCRIPTION: | To understand the learning sequence for hurdling, jumping, and throwing events. | ||
| DESCRIPTION: | This course is designed to assist the teacher/prospective coach to explore the concepts, ideas, and principles of teaching or coaching track and field fundamentals. The student will be able to understand the learning sequence for the hurdling, jumping, and throwing events. Student will demonstrate and perform basic skills and techniques of these events as well as identify the basic terminology used in the sport of track and field and the basic rules of the sport. Upon completion of this course, students should be able to contribute positively to a coaching staff. | ||

| OBJECTIVES: | The student will: 1. Develop a knowledge of track and field 2. Be able to coach and teach the skills and game structures 3. Understand and exhibit skill of team selection 4. Learn how to prepare inventories, budget requests, and finance major equipment purchases 5. Understand endurance, strength, speed, flexibility and motor skills to be successful 6. Receive instruction in the proper event to use natural ability. |
