| CATALOG DESCRIPTION: | To help wrestling coach/teacher develop a philosophy of wrestling. | ||
| DESCRIPTION: | This course is designed to assist the teacher/prospective coach to explore the concepts, ideas, and principles of teaching or coaching wrestling fundamentals. The course will enable the coach/teacher to gain knowledge of skills needed for offense and defense and to learn conditioning techniques useful for wrestling. Emphasis will be on learning and being able to teach the basic fundamentals required for all successful amateur wrestlers. Upon completion of this course, students should be able to contribute positively to a coaching staff. | ||

| OBJECTIVES: | The student will: 1. Develop a philosophy of wrestling 2. Learn the importance of planning seasons, organizing practices and events 3. Learn the rules of wrestling and how they apply to fair play and safety 4. Learn how to prepare inventories, budget requests, and finance major equipment purchases |

| REQUIREMENTS: | 1. Students will be required to attend each class 2. Students are required to turn in a typed portfolio at end of semester which will contain wrestling maneuvers and techniques covered in class 3. Exams - students will be tested on high school wrestling rules 4. Oral Presentation - Students will teach one offensive and one defensive maneuver to class |
