CATALOG DESCRIPTION: A fundamental course designed to teach vocal production skills for the stage. Emphasis is given to learning and developing vocal skills in preparation for voice interpretation. Recommended for students in Elementary or Secondary Education, English and Broadcasting.
DESCRIPTION: A fundamental course designed to teach vocal production skills for the stage. This course is designed for actors, teachers, speakers, and others who engage in oral presentations.
TOPICS: Relaxation, articulation, pronunciation, volume, pitch, rate, emphasis, voice quality, study and integration of the International Phonetic Alphabet and Standard American English.
OBJECTIVES: To train the vocal instrument in preparation for work in acting, public speaking, teaching, etc.
REQUIREMENTS: Select and adapt written materials for oral presentation in class.
Memorize and utilize the International Phonetic Alphabet.
Other requirements as assigned by instructor.
PREREQUISITES:
OTHER: TA 121 is required for students with an emphasis in Theatre or Technical Theatre.
Recommended for students in Elementary or Secondary Education, English and Broadcasting.
