| TOPICS: | Ancient Roman History, Byzantine Empire, Islam, Histories of Germany, Turkey, France,and England. The Satyricon, Excerpts from "The Confessions of St. Augustine," and "The Koran". "The Song of the Seeress," Canterbury tales, Candide, and "The Praise of Folly". | ||
| OBJECTIVES: | 1. To gain an overview perspective of the history and religion of Christianity from the Roman empire onward. 2. To use samples of great literature of history so that we better understand the history and religion we are learning about. 3. To explore our cultural heritage through study, analysis, and discussion. |

| REQUIREMENTS: | Course work includes presentations, readings, and short papers, together with daily preparedness and participation. | ||
