|CATALOG DESCRIPTION:||Beginners and students with less than two years of high school Chinese should register for this course. Basic language skills: listening, speaking, reading, writing.
Offered Fall, Winter, Summer.
|DESCRIPTION:||A beginning Mandarin Chinese course. Establishes the foundation for the four skills.|
|TOPICS:||Begins with basic pronunciation. Vocabulary, grammar and functions are combined and employed as communication tools. Reading and writing of Chinese characters. Cultural glimpses will be scattered throughout.|
|OBJECTIVES:||Students will be able to function at the Novice Mid level in the four skills based on the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines.|
|REQUIREMENTS:||Students will demonstrate their proficiency and skills on several quizzes and examinations. They will also be required to show evidence of their preparation and proficiency in oral recitations and on writing assignments.|
