CATALOG DESCRIPTION: An introduction to French literature and literary analysis.
DESCRIPTION: A study of French poems and excerpts from plays, autobiography and novels. Practice of principles leading to understanding and appreciation of literary genres.
TOPICS: Principles for analyzing literature, study of symbols, figures of speech, word histories, themes, genres, etc.
OBJECTIVES: To give students tools and abilities to analyze and enjoy literature on their own. Students completing this course should be able to speak at intermediate high level and analyze varied literary forms.
REQUIREMENTS: Attendance, oral participation in class, various handouts, excerpts from novels and plays, and a pronunciation guide.
PREREQUISITES: French 201 with grade of C or higher or consent of instructor.
