GENERAL EDUCATION: This course fulfills a General Education - no GECode requirement.

CATALOG DESCRIPTION: Continuation of Russian 101 with continued emphasis on development of the four basic language skills.
DESCRIPTION: This course will focus on presenting the Russian language to the student with a one-semester background in university Russian or its equivalent. Focus in class will be placed on speaking and listening as well as basic grammar concepts. Homework will be mostly geared to practicing the concepts covered in class through reading and writing assignments as well as listening from a prepared CD.
TOPICS: Basic speaking, listening, writing, and reading skills and knowledge of the grammar to enable the student to communicate comprehensibly about the themes chosen for the semester.
OBJECTIVES: By the end of the semester students will be able to: 1) Speak and understand at a novice-high level about certain basic themes such as hobbies, eating, studies, etc; 2) Write a short, one-page essay about these themes using the Cyrillic alphabet; and 3) Read basic texts about these themes and skim newspaper ads, etc.
REQUIREMENTS: Attendance, written homework (using textbook and workbook), listening homework (using CD and tapes), quizzes, tests, final exam.
PREREQUISITES: Russian 101 with a grade of "C" or better or two years of high school Russian, or consent of instructor.
