GENERAL EDUCATION: This course fulfills a General Education - Basic Skills requirement.

CATALOG DESCRIPTION: Study and practice of public speaking skills and verbal ability, public self-confidence, message structure, presentation strategies and audience adaptation.
DESCRIPTION: Improving public speaking skills and verbal ability, self-confidence, message structure, presentation strategies and audience adaptation.
TOPICS: Fundamentals of communicating through effective public speaking.
OBJECTIVES: To overcome apprehensions, select effective topics, organize a basic speech, and to present five-seven speeches; To also incorporate speaking dynamics such as pauses, enthusiasm, rate of speech, etc.; To develope effective introductions and conclusions to talks; And to evaluate the success of other's speeches.
REQUIREMENTS: Students are required to prepare and deliver speeches to audiences in public speaking settings (including Informative Speaking and Persuasive Speaking). Attendance and participation are part of the overall requirements.
