CATALOG DESCRIPTION: A study of the history and doctrines of Christianity from the Roman period through the early development of the Catholic and Orthodox churches, the Middle Ages, the Reformation, and up to modern times. Emphasis is placed upon principles and doctrines regained through the restoration.
DESCRIPTION: A history of Christianity is the vehicle of presentation but many side trips into doctrines and practices of various Christian denominations are taken
TOPICS: Neo-platonism, Augustine, Aquinas, Church architecture, Christian symbolism, monasticism, Luther, Calvin, ancient Roman culture, Enlightement, Liberal and Fundamentalist theology.
OBJECTIVES:
REQUIREMENTS: Regular attendance is required. All faculty give assignments, but each determines his/her own combination of text assignments, projects, and tests.
