CATALOG DESCRIPTION: An overview of preventive maintenance and care of equipment including record keeping, intake and exhaust systems, fuel systems, lubrication systems, cooling systems, electrical maintenance, tune up and storage, and trouble shooting.
DESCRIPTION: In agriculture there is a great need to know how to maintain and repair equipment. Rapid mechanization of agriculture in the last generation or so has made the shop work a larger and more essential part of agricultural operations than ever before. Those in agriculture are realizing, that unless they maintain and repair their equipment in a timely manner, their productivity will be reduced thus reducing profits.
TOPICS: Engine intake and exhaust systems, fuel systems, lubricating systems, cooling systems, and electrical systems. Power trains, hydraulic systems, and other components. Tune-up, storage and trouble shooting of the engine.
OBJECTIVES: To expose students to the service and operational procedures required in agricultural power equipment.
