CATALOG DESCRIPTION: Engine theory and procedures of complete engine overhaul and rebuilding. Major problem diagnosis and testing.
DESCRIPTION: To give the student competency in understanding and practical application and use of the principles and practices of major engine repair. The purpose of this class is to teach the mechanics and operational procedures and repair of tractors and other forms of farm power units with emphasis on adjustments, operations, and care of the farm power units. It includes classroom and lab study of how an engine works to convert energy to productive use.
TOPICS: Safety practices. Use of operator's and/or service manuals to properly service and repair equipment. Understand engines and how they work. Basic engine components. Different types of fuel systems on different engines. Identifying and correctly using testing and service tools. Efficiently use measuring tools. Types of lubrication systems. Understand the intake and exhaust systems. Types of cooling systems. Governing systems. Trouble shooting on agricultural engines.
