CATALOG DESCRIPTION: This second semester junior level course is designed to equip students with the pedagogical skills required of effective secondary ed teachers. It is intended to preceed the method's course taught within each of the subject disciplines.
DESCRIPTION: Prepares prospective Secondary Educators in general instructional strategies appropriate for grades 6-12. Also assists in developing skills in the use of assessment, the construction of assessment devices, the statistical analysis of test results, and the appraisal of educational research. Includes a practicum experience.
TOPICS: Teaching objectives, Lesson planning, instructional techniques, classroom management,etc.
OBJECTIVES: This course will only be offered during secondary education major's initial four weeks of the student teaching semester. The majority of instructional, planning and assessment skills taught in the class will directly be tied to student's upcoming student teaching assignments.
REQUIREMENTS: Restricted to secondary education majors who have completed 45 or more credit hours.
PREREQUISITES: Ed 200, Ed 270, SecEd 205, SecEd 252
