GENERAL EDUCATION: This course fulfills a General Education - Basic Skills requirement.

CATALOG DESCRIPTION: This class fulfills the G.E. Basic Skills requirement for those who are unable to participate in physical activities.
DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to provide a physical education activity class under the direction of a physical therapist for those students who cannot adequately participate in a regular activity class and to maximize the abilities of those students with health related problems. It is for evaluation and treatment of existing Physical Therapy problems. This class does not replace HS 131, 131W, or PE 177.
TOPICS: Adapted to the individual student's needs.
OBJECTIVES: 1. Improve cardiovascular and motor development
2. Help promote neuromuscular and physical fitness
3. Develop respect and self-esteem
4. Allow the student to return to normal activity as safely and as quickly as possible
REQUIREMENTS: 1. Attend class and participate to receive instruction and rehabilitation treatments
2. BYU-I clothing required
PREREQUISITES: An existing physical therapy problem.
OTHER: Justification:
Numerous students have either acquired or were born with congenital physical conditions that interfere with their ability to perform certain physical activities necessry for everyday living. This class is designed to aid the student in recovering from diverse restrictive physical conditions.
