GENERAL EDUCATION: This course does not fulfill a General Education requirement.

CATALOG DESCRIPTION: This class is designed to acquaint the students with the skills and methods necessary to teach art in the secondary classroom.
DESCRIPTION: This course will be both lecture and studio experience. Students will be introduced to a variety of media and the methods for art creation, curriculum development, critique processes, and evaluation.
TOPICS: Topics will include drawing, painting, color, design, photography, ceramics, graphic design, and printmaking.
OBJECTIVES: Skills and methods for introducing and teaching the media listed above to secondary level students will be taught. Project outlines will be created for each medium. Evaluation methods for each will also be taught.
REQUIREMENTS: Attendance, preparation, and completion of all projects will be the basic criteria for grading. Students will be expected to create a portfolio of projects for each medium that will become the basis for classroom visual aids.
PREREQUISITES: Junior level status.
