CATALOG DESCRIPTION: An advanced biology course that examines the functioning, growth, and development of vascular plants. (Winter)
DESCRIPTION: An advanced biology course that examines various aspects of plant physiology, including water relations and vascular transport, mineral nutrition, photosynthesis and respiration, and hormonal control of growth and development in plants.
TOPICS: Photosynthesis, respiration, water relations, solute transport, mineral nutrition, and growth in flowering plants.
OBJECTIVES: Students will gain an understanding of how plants obtain and transport nutrients and water, the cellular and hormonal basis for plant growth and development, and the photobiotic aspects of photosynthesis and cellular respiration in plants.
REQUIREMENTS: Enrollment in lab and attendance in class, and completion of all assignments, labs, and exams.
PREREQUISITES: BIO 200 or 208, and completion of or concurrent enrollment in Chem 252 (organic chemistry).
OTHER: $15 Lab Fee
