DESCRIPTION: Data collection for classical physical chemistry experiments, laboratory experience with modern instrumentation, report preparation.
TOPICS: Classical physical chemistry experiments, including calorimetry, kinetics, and electrochemistry. Application of a variety of instrumental techniques.
OBJECTIVES: · Develop experience using classical physical chemistry experimental techniques.
· Develop experience using modern instrumental methods.
· Understand basic principles of instrumentation.
· Critically evaluate experimental data.
· Incorporation of sound data acquisition and critical data analysis into lab report preparation
REQUIREMENTS: Typically 10 laboratory experiments including laboratory report for each.
PREREQUISITES: Completion of or concurrent enrollment in Chem 462
