GENERAL EDUCATION: This course fulfills a General Education - no GECode requirement.

CATALOG DESCRIPTION: All chemistry majors must find and experience a work internship. This would generally occur the semester after their junior year or during their senior year. The experience could involve working for a government agency, industry, an academic institution or any organization that employs chemists on their staff. The credit for the internship would count as the capstone experience required for graduation. The student will have a contract agreement with the employer and be responsible to a faculty supervisor. Upon completion of the internship, a short presentation will be made to the BYU-I chemistry department as part of the requirement. (Offered Fall, Winter, 1st Summer Term and 2nd Summer Term)

OBJECTIVES: The objective of the internship is to give the student an opportunity to integrate and apply chemistry concepts to a real world experience in an environment that employs chemistry. This experience should help a student decide on a career pathway.
REQUIREMENTS: It is the student's reponsibility to find an internship. The internship must then be approved through the internship coordinator in the chemistry department. The student must then complete the internship and give a short presentation to the BYU-I chemistry department.
PREREQUISITES: Completion of Chem 220, 351, 352, 461, 462 and 464
