CATALOG DESCRIPTION: A companion laboratory course for Chemistry 150. (Offered Winter Semester)
DESCRIPTION: A companion laboratory course for Chemistry 150.
TOPICS: Experiments selected to teach organic chemistry techniques (such as recrystallization, melting points and chromatography), synthesis of compounds, characterization of functional groups, isolation and reactions of biochemically important groups.
OBJECTIVES: The lab experiments are designed to reinforce the principles discussed in chemistry 150.
REQUIREMENTS: Typically there are 10 experiments which require a lab report and a quiz.
PREREQUISITES: Concurrent registration in Chem 150. This lab cannot be taken after the completion of Chem 150.
