CATALOG DESCRIPTION: Perspective on providing family-focused early intervention, with emphasis on communicating with families, empowering parents, developing family and professional partnerships, interagency collaboration, and accessing and linking families and community resources.

TOPICS:
OBJECTIVES: Each student will demonstrate:
· Knowledge of the dynamics, roles and relationships within families and communities
· Knowledge of a range of family-oriented services and family resources within the community setting
· Knowledge of structures supporting interagency collaboration including interagency agreements, referrals, and consultation
· The skills necessary to establish and maintain positive collaborative relationships with families
· The skills necessary to involve parents in assessing and planning for the needs of their children
Knowledge of the differences in family structures and social and cultural backgrounds

PREREQUISITES: Junior or Senior Standing; CHILD 210 and ECSE 100
