| OBJECTIVES: | 1- To understand the components of language and literacy and how oral and written, language, and communication are an intergraded systems. 2- To conceptualize the basic theories of Language and Literacy Acquisition, acknowledge their limitations and use the basic framework of these theories to understand the foundational principles guiding child learning. 3- To map out significant language and literacy milestones for young children in order to informally assess language and literacy ability/level and understand how they relate to motor, cognitive, play and social development. 4- To thoughtfully consider differences in learning styles and how they interact with the developing child’s acquisition of language and literacy. 5- Understand language and literacy ability and their impact on functionality of daily activities of life. |

| REQUIREMENTS: | A research paper to include a review of the literature on specific issues, aspects or populations related to language, learning, or literacy. | ||
