CATALOG DESCRIPTION: Curriculum development, teaching and working with preschool children; emphasis on lead teaching skills, support of children's play, and health and safety issues.
DESCRIPTION: Curriculum development, teaching and working with preschool children; emphasis on lead teaching skills, support of children's play, and health and safety issues.
TOPICS:
OBJECTIVES: Students will advance skills in curriculum development and lead teaching. They will learn to recognize and assist children who exhibit play problems, learn to administer a standardized development screening test, and demonstrate an understanding of health and safety practices when working with young children.
REQUIREMENTS: Students will implement at least ten original preschool lessons. They will administer the Denver Development Screening Test and write anecdotal records reflecting application of principles that assist children to develop play skills.
PREREQUISITES: ECSE 240, concurrent enrollment in CHILD 250, instructor's approval.
