CATALOG DESCRIPTION: Analysis of communication principles and practices in organizations from a theoretical perspective, methods to improve communication practices and review of career opportunities in the field.
DESCRIPTION: Analysis of communication principles and practices in organizations, with a strong theoretical base and an emphasis on improving organizational skills.
TOPICS: Organizational Communication theory will be presented in both the class lectures and the readings. The analysis will come from class discussions, activities and written assignments.
OBJECTIVES: To provide a theoretical and practical understanding of how communication operates within an organization and to aid in the development of communication skills.
REQUIREMENTS: Class attendance.
Daily short quizzes.
Three case studies.
Group project/group oral report and written report.
Two mock interviews.
Oral presentation from results of final project.
Individual project.
