CATALOG DESCRIPTION: Technical, contextual and communication-directed introduction to web design and production. Training in creating web pages, designing graphics and writing copy for online distribution. Overview of the history, current function and future possibilities of the web.
DESCRIPTION: Examination of the use of computer technology, focusing on the Internet in gathering, designing and transmitting news and information. Specific training in computer software applications and web page design.An introduction to the Internet as a mass media tool. Web site design and content development.
TOPICS: The course includes an introduction to HTML and computer software designed for developing content on the World Wide Web. The background and current applications of the Internet are covered as well as available technology and uses for the Internet from a mass media perspective.
OBJECTIVES: This course is designed to help students become better users and creators of Internet content. Students study what the Internet is used for, how to take advantage of available Internet technology, and how to develop, design, and deliver a variety of World Wide Web pages using specific computer software applications.
