| TOPICS: |
Exposure to a range of sacred and religious literature; examination of the way literature explores, dramatizes, and promotes sacred and religious ideals; literary principles for reading sacred and religious texts closely to gain insight into religious thought; critical thinking about sacred/religious texts; theme identification within the literary tradition. |
| OBJECTIVES: |
- Understand and appreciate literature as a valuable source of intellectual, emotional, and aesthetic experience reflecting and enriching the human experience.
- Read literature within such contexts as nationality, historical period, ethnicity, and culture.
- Apply appropriate critical theories to literary texts.
- Continue developing library skills for literary research and document formal writing according to MLA guidelines.
- Integrate secondary texts into written work.

Extensive reading, discussion, and oral presentations. Interpretive and analytical papers totaling 15 pages. MLA documentation. |
