Basic forms of creative literature; class-based writing workshops; literary terms; basic expectations of the creative publishing market. |
| OBJECTIVES: |
- Read quality literature for example and inspiration.
- Produce works in several genres--poetry, fiction, and drama.
- Understand differences between popular and literary writing.
- Learn basic terminology in several genres.
- Improve editing skills: grammar, punctuation, and mechanics.
- Develop an understanding of one's own writing approach and temperament.
- Regularly experience peer critiques and workshops.
- Produce a portfolio of one's best work.

Reading assignments from the works of published authors. Numerous writing assignments. Class-based workshop assignments. |

Completion of English 111 or 111C. |
