TOPICS: Characteristics of effective sentences, paragraphs, and short essays; patterns of organization; rhetorical modes and purposes; audience analysis; the composing process; and editing.
OBJECTIVES:

  1. Understand writing as a process.
  2. Compose short essays demonstrating clear focus, adequate support, precision, and coherence.
  3. Correct frequently made editing errors.
REQUIREMENTS: 5,000 words of edited prose and exploratory writing.
